172.5mm compact double crank 48/34 Gorgeous!  With the beautiful polished rings.  

We just learned that the Alpina crank does not seem to be available through Sugino on a regular basis.  We have bought out the remaining US inventory that we could find.  This may be the last chance to get this wonderfully popular and highly regarded Cold Forged crank from Sugino.

This crank has a Q factor of around 154 to 155 by our most recent calculations (use with a 110mm bb).  For many riders, this "in between" Q factor is optimal.  Some crave lower Q factor, but many riders have difficulty with cranks that are very low Q.  Everybody is different.  The Q factor on this crank is lower than that of many cranks these days.

The chainrings on this crank are designed for 9 or 10 speed but worth swell with retro drivetrains.  The finish on the chainrings is absolute top notch.  The arms themselves look wonderful, but we've always seen some variations in polish and finish (sometimes the backsides are a bit rough in the spots you don't see).  But this crank looks good - really good.  And the quality is simply legendary.  We have never ever heard of a crank failure with the high quality Sugino cranks.  

We are sad that the time will soon come when this is another "lost" item to history.  Maybe Sugino will change their mind.  But right now according to our suppliers it doesn't look good.
