A very nice feature of a top tier randonneur bicycle is to have a stem cap mounted lightswitch. This option was typically available only on very special bicycles such as our cost-as-no-object Rene Herse bicycles.
But by popular demand - and through a lot of trial and error and design work with our local machine shop, we finally have a stem cap light switch for sale!
The requirement is that you have a 1" threadless steerer. We're assuming you will be using a typical 1 1/8" stem though, so therefore you will be using a shims on the steerer. In place some of the spacers going around your shim, you will need to use the adjustable headset spacer which IS INCLUDED that will allow you to pre-load the headset against your stem. The only downside at this time is the adjustable headset spacer is black. Perhaps some easy off or time polishing will enable you to make it shiny. We also will include a few 1" to 1 1/8" shims as well.
The light switch package comes with the actual high quality Japanese switch.
Note that this is not the easiest package to install. You need to hook up wires, run them out the bottom of the steerer tube, and do all sorts of stuff to make the installation. But for those who are tech savy or who are working with builders who are, this is an amazingly beautiful and function assembly. And the parts which we make are MADE IN THE USA!
For heavier riders, or if riding loaded (and especially if loaded offroad), this is a great choice. A bit heavier, more pricey, and less aero than the regular SONdelux. We don't see wheel issues with the regular SonDeluxe, but the increased bracing angle will be helpful in applications where greater wheel strength is needed.
So if you want added stength on your front wheel, this is a great choice. One downside is that it might be a bit more difficult to pull off the connection terminals. Folks may or may not be bothered by this.
In stock for immediate shipment. Brand new, fresh in the box of course. Schmidt legendary quality and warranty!
Call or email if you are interested in this hub and want it in a "package" with other lighting items. Its hard for us to list every permutation of lighting package so plese let us know what you need. We have lots of lighting in stock and can give guidence on those tricky installations.

Schmidt Edelux Headlight. This light is simply fantastic - gorgeous looks and performance. Looks like something that fell out of the gadget back full of Leica equipment (we appologize to those who don't know vintigish camera gear).
The upside down verion allows for the light to "hang" from an attachment. Some folks really like this idea. But when using a rack like the Nitto M12 with our robust proprietary light bracket, the tendancy of a light to loosen is often a non issue, making this light less necessary than it was a few years ago. But if you have a custom rack with a arm for the light to hand from, this is a swell choice.
The downside to this upside down light is that there is no tap for a tailight. So you need to build in a switch or a wiring junction to hard wire to a tailight. So purchase accordingly!
This is the long wire version which you cut to length. If you want us to prep the wires to a specific length just let us know and we'll put the spiffy connections with heat shrink tubing on for you to your specifications free of charge. Just purchase and email us with your requirements.

This hub is the most popular one we sell. Originally designed for 20" wheels, once the world went to LED's (we assume you will be using LED's), then this hub with 700c was more than bright enough! So if you are using a hologen E6 or running a charger, or often ride very slowly uphill, then maybe consider the SON28. But nearly all folks, including the commuting set, will find this hub perfect in terms of draq, quality, and light output. Also see our other listings for lighting packages.

If you want to use our battery tailight made for an M6 braze on, here is the braze-on stud. You can buy this and send it to your framebuilder. The stud also has a second internal tube so that if in the future you we offer a hard-wire generator powered tailight for this same stud, you will be all set. One day we'll get the braze on light in production.
Note - allow about 3 extra days or so for delivery of this item.
This light uses the guts from a very standard blinky light that you can find at your local REI or a multitude of other places. It uses two batteries. Place the batteries in one direction and the light is continuous. Reverse the battery orientation and the light turns into a blinky.
This aluminum housing is optimized to mount on the rear of an aluminum or stainless fender (must be metal, not on plastic). It attaches with two M4 bolts for even mounting (better than using just one mounting bolt). It goes on nice and secure. It will fit best on a smooth 50mm or so fender, but with a different width or "shaped" fender it will still clamp down nice. We don't include a leather washer, we're not sure that is great for this application. Instead, we advise that you use clear Silicone RTV between the base of the base of the light and the fender. This way if your fender is hammered or has shaping, you will fill in the gap. Metal on metal attachments with things like fender stays and other lights work well with just tightening down. So we think this is a great way to go.
Now - we always suggest redundancy in your lighting - so you should also run multiple lights or have a reserve light just in case. We like the column blinky lights. But for a cool light on your fender this light is awesome!
Finally - a really nifty battery tailight that in the finest of Randonneur Bicycle traditions mounts to a braze on post on the back of the seatube. This is a product manufactured by Boulder Bicycle.
We sell the needed braze on stud as a seperate item. That way you can purchase the light and send the braze on to your builder so you can use this snazy light.
The light is based on a commercially available safety light. We make our propretary light housing and fit and assemble the unit.
Please allow 3 extra business days for shipment of your order as we may need to assemble your light once we recieve your order. But we have all the parts on hand.
Our new Boulder Bicycle Brevet and All Road frames now come equipped with the braze-on.
B&M Cyo Seculite Plus talilight - the shiny chrome version (the photo shows the black base version).
This is a dynamo tailight that mounts on a fender. Really - has to mount on a fender. Probably too stout for use on plastic fenders. Very nice quality, but you can add epoxy or silicon to seal it even better.

B&M Cyo Senso Plus headlight. Very similar performance to the Edelux (Edelux uses the Cyo optics). The sealing isn't as nice on the Cyo, but if you seal the seams a bit, you should be fine. We use this on some of our own bikes, we really like it! A best value in the headlight world. Projects pretty far out - for those who commute or ride slower, you should look at the Nearfield version we offer as a different item.
The B&M Cyo N Plus headlight with the daylight running mode.
Top level performance - this is the light with the reflector so that it gives better close-in illumination. Perfect for commuters or those who are less likely to "outrun" their headlight. But don't be fooled by the nearfield claim, this light still puts out globs of light even at a pretty far distance. Way beyond the performance of dynamo lights from a few years back. Like all our headlights, with a standlight of course.
